4th of July

Posted by johnmarr on February 26, 2008

Johnny Griffin is currently working out the details for an awesome 4th of July Disc Golf get-together.  He hasn’t finalized all of the details yet, but here is what he has told us so far:

Please Remember…

Posted by johnmarr on February 26, 2008

There were a few small issues that have come up this week, and I wanted to touch base with everyone to make sure that we are all on the same page.

I’m in love with rock and roll, and I’ll be out all night…

Posted by tbrady on February 26, 2008

…it’s hard thinking of catchy titles so I used my favorite rock lyric.

This Sunday we’re organizing a field trip to the Sherando Course in Stevens City (directions).  The trip will be Sunday March 2 and we’ll be meeting at Midtowne Market (Water St.) at 12.  The whole trip will be very similar to the trip that we took to the Staunton course last weekend, once everyone meets we’ll figure out carpools, bag-tag is encouraged but not required, I’ll hit a lot of trees….

Weekend Update

Posted by tbrady on February 21, 2008

Johnny will be out again this Saturday at Westover, hole #18, with his complete Discraft inventory (11 Am).  Once again any interested peoples are encouraged to come down and take a few out for trial runs.

The Discraft trail will lead directly into an “all are welcome” round of dg starting at noon.  We’ve had good turn up for the “High Noon Showdown” the last two weeks, but the more the merrier.  If you are a bagtagger in search of #1 tag, I can’t promise anything (it isn’t mine), but it’s owner/s have been present the last two weeks…

I wish I could remember a good Kevin Nealon joke to close with.

A Big DG Weekend

Posted by tbrady on February 18, 2008

Lots of tag action this past weekend, 7 guys showed up at noon Saturday for a round which saw the #1 tag change hands yet again.  Theo Stahl and Brad Fiala went down to extra innings to decide who came away with the top honor, it turned out to be Theo, after he edged out Brad in a playoff.

The Password

Posted by tbrady on February 16, 2008

Hey, I’d head from a couple people that they had difficulty accessing any of the areas that require a password.  I had as well, but its because the password is case sensitive and you need to put all the letters in capitals, for instance, if the password was “discgolf08,” you would need to type it “DISCGOLF08.”  This should help everyone who was in a similar situation as me but if you still have issues, or need a reminder of what the password is, email John Marr or I, and we’ll get you the necessary info.  We’d also like to hear if any of you have had trouble posting, I heard from David Miller that his comments were getting automatically discarded but he has a notoriously dirty mouth so it might be his own fault.  That’s not really true about David, but we would really like to hear if your posts aren’t getting through, the sites intention is to let all of our voices be heard.

Chance to “fly before you buy”

Posted by tbrady on February 15, 2008

Johnny Griffen got in his Discraft order last week, so Midtowne Market is now overflowing with new plastic.  Johnny will have most of his new inventory out for people to  try at hole 18 of the Westover course at 11 AM this Saturday.  So if you’re in the market for a new disc or just curious about trying some Discraft plastic (no one in town carried them previously) come on down.  There is an open call for anyone who wants to play at noon that day, so it could work out that your new Discraft disc ends up immediately moving you up the rankings.

Side note:  Brad Fiala is the new #1 after randomly running in to Nathan Talley on the course and taking him out in a tight match.  Theo Stahl also played a great round and moved up the ladder at the expense of myself and Ryan Zale.  Overall, a great round, despite the fact that Theo’s dog Beco stole my tennis ball.

Sunday Field Trip

Posted by tbrady on February 13, 2008

Ryan Zale has suggested a hburgdiscgolf field-trip to Staunton this Sunday and I personally think it is a great idea.  The plan is to meet at Midtowne Market (20 West Water St.) at noon on Sunday and carpool down to the Montgomery Hall course (directions) for a fun round with friends on a foreign course.  Any out of towners who want to play but don’t want to meet in Harrisonburg can go straight to the Staunton course and expect us between 12:45 and 1:00 PM.  Bag tag play is encouraged but certainly not required due to the alien nature of the course.

Saturday Bag Tag Play

Posted by tbrady on February 11, 2008

Last Saturday at high Noon we had some “all are welcome” bag tag play that ended up involving a six way tag exchange.  Johnny Griffen and Mike Cast ended up taking the day as well as the 6 and 7 tags.  They were hotly pursued by Ben Earman and John Marr who both threw great rounds to remain in the top 15.  Brent Finnegan and I both took steep falls in the rankings but we look forward to re-rising, phoenix style, at a latter date.
